The project renovates the interior of a 1990s building in the heart of Beijing, transforming it into a bright and modern exhibition space for the wedding planning company Jiuxi.

The contemporary look of the Jiuxi Wedding Exhibition Centre is achieved through a modern interpretation of traditional Italian palace floor patterns, combined with three color variations of terrazzo flooring, black anodized steel cladding, and stabilized aluminum foam wall panels. Large rotating mirror walls create striking effects that multiply and reflect the surrounding space.

The design is fully integrated with the latest technologies to offer a memorable and user-friendly experience. The central rotunda houses a digital experience center, combining VR headset technology with conventional 360-degree projections and LED screens equipped with interactive and engaging interfaces. While embracing the “digital” aspect, the design maintains a strong focus on the physical, sensory, and experiential qualities of the space, creating a visceral and extraordinary shopping environment.

Widely published in design magazines and awarded the Iconic Award 2017 for Best of Best Interior Design, the German Design Council described it as: “With the magnificent exhibition space of the Jiuxi Wedding Exhibition Centre, the architects have elevated the concept of ‘wedding’ to the highest possible aesthetic level for the 21st century. What is exciting here is the excellent interplay between minimalism and opulence, as well as the idea of integrating the most legendary romantic scenes of all time into an ultra-modern interior. Displaying the wedding dresses as if on a fashion runway is also a brilliant idea. This is superb design that tackles a theme, too often treated superficially, in a challenging, thoughtful, and modern way from every perspective, without resorting to clichés.”
